My Experience: In 2023, I had the pleasure of performing with 40 different bands, spanning a wide range of musical cultures from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe and numerous vibrant locales in between. My musical journey began at the age of 14 when I joined my first professional band, specializing in Zimbabwean Chimurenga and Sungura music. After touring with them for six years, I have since accumulated over a thousand gigs, exploring a vast spectrum of genres across Asia, Africa, and South America. My repertoire includes everything from Pakistani Sufi Qawwali to Congolese Soukous and Cuban Bolero, enabling me to craft bass lines that enhance any track authentically.
While my roots are deeply planted in world music, that’s by no means all that I’m limited to. I love playing Motown and each month I’m on stage with rock/pop/soul/funk bands too. Recently, I completed a remote recording session for a composer whose work resembles the style of Radiohead. As the musical director of the London Astrobeat Orchestra since 2017, and having led various other bands, I possess a nuanced understanding of musical synergy, ensuring that each instrument in a track complements the others effectively.
