I’m going a bit out of order, but here’s the intro of the Bozo-style piece from the Malian guitar course.
I think I’m almost done with the Mali blues course and am thinking about what I want to take next. I’ve been listening to a lot of Bembeya Jazz Orchestra from Guinea lately, which is apparently a blend of Mande and Afro-Cuban music. Any idea which guitar course will take me that direction?

@lauren-standifer Sounding great. The Mande/Mandingue/Mandinka empire began in Mali and they ruled Guinea/Senegal/Gambia/Burkina Faso so that’s why there are some similarities in language groups, ethnic groups, traditional instruments and of course music in these countries. Seen as you’ve already been studying Malian music you could check Latin American Folk Guitar https://worldmusicmethod.com/courses/latin-american-folk-guitar-extended/ It covers a range of styles but there are 2 very comprehensive modules on Cuban “Son”. Son came before salsa. When record players arrived in Guinea for a while before local music had been recorded the only records available were European, American and Cuban so that’s what they would have been grooving to.
