I’m an editor for various music publications. I received my PhD in music theory from Columbia University and taught music at the university level for 20 years. I have published a number of articles, and I am currently at work on a book that historicizes the Princeton School of composer-theorists, under contract with the University of California Press. After that I will write a book analyzing free jazz. Before all that I was a double bassist and bass guitarist, instruments I’ve picked up again.
