    Manolo Sanlúcar (1943–2022), born Manuel Muñoz Alcón in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain, was a celebrated flamenco guitarist and composer. Trained by his father, he quickly developed exceptional skill and became one of the leading figures in modern flamenco alongside Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, and Vicente Amigo. Sanlúcar was known not only for his mastery of the guitar but also for his ambition to integrate flamenco into symphonic music, creating works that elevated the genre to new artistic heights.

    His most notable contributions include Fantasía para guitarra y orquesta, Medea, Soleá, Tauromagia, and Aljibe, which showcased his vision of flamenco as a profound and universal art form. He emphasized that flamenco was more than music—it was a philosophy and cultural expression of an entire people. Sanlúcar also composed stage works like Ven y Sígueme and produced critically acclaimed albums such as Tauromagia (1988) and Locura de Brisa y Trino (2000).
